Body ArtVertising

At the sound of body painting, the first thoughts that may come to mind are very 18 plus, lewd, or otherwise mature in nature. Possibly conjuring up images of bars or nightclubs as well. So how is that body painting has become such an amazing facet to the advertising world without church protests or parental disapproval? I have a feeling its all about good taste and the proper context. To prove to you it can be done, I gathered a small collection of tastefully done body art mixed with plain old advertising. Enjoy!

Alternative Realities

Melodrama lives and breathes in the pixels of Kuang Hong’s rich and imaginative illustrations. The artist has an old head on his young shoulders. His work has both the air of an accomplished artist and the energy of youthful idealism. These qualities enable him to open a window on a weird and wonderful futurescape. “Drawing these kinds of images gives me a sense of freedom,” enthuses Kuang. “It translates into a way to present totally what I think, without restrictions.”

Sophisticated Intergalactic Portraits

јануар 21st, 2012 d.c. Posted in Art No Comments » 993 views

Bringing people (and aliens) from a galaxy far, far away into a time century or two long ago… Star Wars of the Victorian Era portraits will show you a much more sophisticated side to these intergalactic warriors.
The wild and unpredictable Chewbacca has a slicked back doo and is seen sporting a very sleek hairdo and monocle that classes up this hairy beast. The transformations don’t stop there, as the metallic C-3PO is dressed for a night on the town in a handsome bow tie and top hat fit for any cultured Victorian gentleman. Despite the truly alluring look of each of these Star Wars of the Victorian Era portraits, the one that shows the most transformation would be the depiction of the large and in charge Jabba the Hut. Dressed in a chocolate brown suit, the Victorian era has never looked better on Jabba, who appears to look much slimmer and older with a sharp mustache and cigar in hand.

Dave Wilkins is a self-taught digital artist who, after working various odd jobs, is now in high demand from big name clients such as Midway Entertainment and Marvel Comics. I can’t say I’m surprised as each one of Wilkins’ creations hits your eyes so hard with artistic flair that they’re impossible to ignore. He combines fantasy elements with the exaggerated anatomical and facial aesthetics of the comic book world to create his own brand of ridiculously appealing visuals. Simply put, the man can pretty much make anything look awesome.

These cool images were made by a distinguished gentleman who goes by the name of Wilhelm Staehle, the sort of man who in Victorian England would’ve been found imbibing juvenile children’s blood while enjoying the local exhibition of human curiosities.
